Heather Zornetzer, ICT for Health Program Coordinator

Heather joined SSI as the ICT for Health Program Coordinator in April of 2008. She works closely with William Avilés Monterrey, Director of Informatics, in the Nicaragua office to implement health information technologies in several projects with the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health. These "eHealth" tools are being used to streamline and improve immunization coverage, prenatal health tracking, and chronic diseases monitoring. Heather has a background in rural community health and zoonotic disease prevention and has worked with NGOs in Nicaragua and other Latin American countries since 1999. She comes to SSI with a MPH from UC Berkeley, a MS from UC Davis in International Agricultural Development, and a BA in Biology from Reed College.
