Centers of Excellence

We are committed to providing, effective, long-term support to our partner researchers and institutions in discrete geographic areas with high-disease burdens. As a result, we concentrate our resources to supporting outstanding researchers and institutions with the goal of developing them into Centers of Excellence. These centers exist of long-term partners who over the years have demonstrated great progress and have used the knowledge gained through SSI trainings for the good of their communities. We have fostered the creation of Centers of Excellence in Managua, Nicaragua; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Medellín, Colombia; Lima, Perú, and Panama City, Panama. Each center has established state-of-the-art laboratories supported by SSI and are now national or regional reference laboratories for various infectious diseases.
