Having volunteered as a physician and sent medical supplies overseas, Ed feels strongly that appropriately applied technology will have a tremendous impact on global health. For Ed, the goals of SSI represent a harmonious fusion of his basic research experience in immunology and his love of patient care. It represents a balance between the high-tech medical practice of liver transplantations in the U.S. and the basic needs for clinical and scientific advancement in the developing world.
